First impressions
Reactoonz is the slot Play’n GO built when they wanted to escape the Egyptian-book formula and prove they could do something properly novel. Released in late 2017, it dropped the paylines model entirely in favour of a 7×7 cluster-pays grid, slid in a charging-up “Quantumeter” that gates the big features, and dressed the whole thing in a deliberately weird cast of one-eyed cartoon aliens. By 2019 it was a fixture on every UK mobile lobby and it still earns its spot today.
The headline number is 96.51% RTP with a 4,570x maximum win. Variance is officially “very high” on Play’n GO’s own paytable, and unlike Book of Dead the maximum here is achievable through actual play — though only via a perfectly stacked Gargantoon feature.
How the cluster-and-meter loop works
You win a cluster (five or more matching symbols touching), the symbols vanish, new ones drop in, and a “Quantum Leap” charge fills your meter on the right side of the reels. Fill four sections of the meter inside a single spin sequence and you trigger the Gargantoon feature — a giant 3×3 wild-spawning alien that pays out genuinely enormous clusters on its way down the screen.
That is the whole engine. The four “wild” sub-features that fire as you fill the meter (Implosion, Incision, Alteration, Demolition) are largely interchangeable — they each clear or convert symbols in a different geometry — and the only one that really matters is the Gargantoon at the top of the chain.
What the session actually feels like
I put 600 spins through Reactoonz at 20p, on a UK-licensed account, and triggered Gargantoon twice. Both rounds paid back roughly 180x and 410x respectively, which felt fair against the variance promised. Between those triggers there are stretches where the base game does almost nothing — the 36.5% headline hit frequency is misleading because most of those “hits” are 5-symbol clusters worth less than your bet.
Where Reactoonz earns its score is in how active it feels even when it’s losing. The meter is always doing something, the wild alien is always growling at you from the side, and the cluster cascades produce small wins often enough that you never feel like you’re just feeding a hopper. That is rare for a 96.51%-RTP slot with this kind of cap.
Where it stops working
Two complaints. First, the 4,570x cap means the genuinely big wins everyone shares on YouTube are at the top of a steep curve — your average Gargantoon trigger will pay an order of magnitude less than that. Second, the 91.51% RTP variant exists, and some operators run it. If you can’t see the RTP on the in-game info panel before you start, assume the worst and find a different operator.
Verdict: 8.3/10. The best non-bookish high-volatility slot Play’n GO have ever shipped, and one of the few cluster-pays games where the maths actually keeps you engaged.
Where to play Reactoonz in the UK
Reactoonz is a Play’n GO default-stock on every UKGC-licensed slot site that runs the studio’s catalogue, which is most of them. The Reactoonz slot UK distribution is essentially universal — PlayOJO, Casumo, MrQ, BetVictor, 888casino all carry it under identical paytables. What changes site-to-site is the welcome offer’s eligibility for cluster-pays slots: a handful of operators exclude Reactoonz from free-spins promotions because the mechanic produces too many small hits. Always check the bonus T&Cs page before you commit a deposit.
Reactoonz slot demo and free play
Every operator stocking Reactoonz also offers a Reactoonz slot demo — same cascading reels, same Quantum charge meter, same end-of-round Gargantoon trigger logic, but with funny-money credits. The demo is genuinely useful here because the charge mechanics are easier to understand once you have watched them fill twice in real time. The “play Reactoonz slot” demo also reveals just how grindy the base game is at low stakes; the cluster cascade looks dramatic but most of those animations clear pennies.
Reactoonz vs Reactoonz 2 — which one to play
Play’n GO released Reactoonz 2 in 2020. Same cluster math, brighter art, and a slightly different bonus payload — the sequel adds a Wild Pair generator that fires on every fifth charge. If you want the more polished build, that is the Reactoonz 2 slot review you should read. If you want the original, leaner game that was tuned harder, the first Reactoonz is still the better slot mathematically. The volatility on the original sits a notch above the sequel.

Pros & cons
What we liked
- Meter mechanic keeps the base game feeling active even on losing stretches
- Honest 96.51% default RTP and fair feature-trigger frequency
- Five-feature ladder gives clear visible progress toward the bonus
- Plays brilliantly on mobile at low stakes
- Cluster-pays maths is genuinely original, not a Megaways reskin
What we didn’t
- Below-default 91.51% RTP variant exists and is hard to spot
- 4,570x cap is realistic only on a perfect Gargantoon
- No bonus-buy option will frustrate Pragmatic players
- Long base-game droughts between Gargantoon triggers
- Cartoon aliens divide opinion — not a luxe theme
FAQ
What is the RTP of Reactoonz?
The default Play’n GO RTP is 96.51%. Operators can choose a 94.50% or 91.51% variant — always check the in-game info panel before spinning.
How volatile is Reactoonz?
Very high. Long stretches of small cluster wins are interrupted by occasional large Gargantoon features. Bankroll planning matters.
What is the maximum win on Reactoonz?
The capped payout is 4,570x your total bet, reached through a maximally productive Gargantoon round.
Does Reactoonz have a buy-feature?
No. The Gargantoon round is purely meter-triggered. There is no bonus-buy option.
Is Reactoonz available on mobile in the UK?
Yes. Reactoonz is HTML5-built and runs cleanly on iOS and Android at UK-licensed operators.
Is Reactoonz 1 or Reactoonz 2 the better slot?
Both have their fans. Reactoonz 2 added more feature variety but Reactoonz 1 has the cleaner pace. We review the original here.
