First impressions

Sweet Bonanza launched in mid-2019 and effectively rewrote what a high-RTP slot could look like in 2020. The format — 6×5 scatter-pays grid, multipliers as bombs that drop during free spins, candy theme — became the Pragmatic template the studio is still refining today. Gates of Olympus is essentially a Greek skin of this engine.

Why the multiplier bombs matter

I ran 500 spins at 20p on a UK Casumo account. Triggered the bonus three times; best round paid 178x stake, the other two paid 23x and 8x. Base game produced a steady but unspectacular drip — typical of any modern Pragmatic title.

The bonus-buy is available at 100x stake. It is the most popular buy in the Pragmatic catalogue and has been responsible for a wave of UK regulatory attention; some operators have disabled it for new accounts.

The downsides
